One of the most famous dimes in American history is the Seated Liberty Dime that was struck from 1837-1891. The Seated Liberty Dime was designed by Christian Gobrecht, the 3rd Chief Engraver at the United States Mint and depicts a goddess-like Lady Liberty seated upon a rock holding a Liberty pole topped by a Phrygian Cap of Freedom. Gobrecht's design showed a wreath on the reverse.
