150-Year-Old Currency Sets
Recently, we stumbled on a sizeable cache of paper currency notes that date back more than 150 years ago. What’s interesting, however, is that there was a ton of variety to these notes so we’re making them, available in three-piece bundles on a first-come, first-served basis.
Historic Pre-Civil War-Era Notes
These notes come soaked with history and collectability along with questions surrounding their original purpose and where they’ve been for the past century and a half. Prior to the Civil War, “obsolete” paper currency was issued by state banks, railroads, merchants, and state and local governments. During this pre-Civil War era, the U.S. Treasury hadn’t issued currency, and Confederate currency wasn’t printed until 1861 when U.S. funds were cut-off to the South.
Very Good To Crisp Uncirculated Condition
This three-piece set features a combination of unissued, issued, script currency and notes from the North and the South. Script currency refers to any type of substantial currency that replaces legal tender. Each three-piece set will be different with a different combination of notes so it’s likely that no two sets will be the same. All the notes were issued between 1830 and 1869 and range in grade from Very Good to Crisp Uncirculated (VG CU) condition. Don’t miss your chance to get a piece of our find. Buy a few and enjoy!
