100-Year-Old Barber Decades Sets

More than 100 years ago, it wasn’t the Roosevelt Dime but the Barber Dime that folks had rattling around in their pockets and coin purses. Struck in highly pure 90% fine silver, these coins were designed by Charles Barber, then-Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. Other designs had been submitted — more than 300, in fact — but Barber, as part of a panel of judges, rejected them all in favor of designing the coin himself. The coin features a bust of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap on the obverse while the reverse displays an agricultural wreath and the “ONE DIME” denomination.

A Barber Dime From Each Decade It Was Struck

Here you can secure a three-piece “Decades” set of Barbers dated between 1892 and 1916. Wondering what a “Decades” set is? These Barber Dimes were struck during the three decades they were issued and each of set includes one coin from each decade, 1892-1899, 1900-1909 and 1910-1916. Plus, each coin comes graded in Good to Very Good (G–VG) condition. Dates and mint marks will vary, but every coin is at least 105 years old! Secure yours now!

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • CLASSIC COIN DESIGN – The Barber Dime was struck from 1892 to 1916. The classic design was the work of Charles Barber, the U.S. Mint’s 6th Chief Engraver. It features Lady Liberty with her hair tucked up under her cap on the obverse while the reverse shows a wreath and the ONE DIME denomination.
  • STRUCK IN GLEAMING SILVER – Barber Dimes were struck in 2.5 grams of highly pure 90% fine silver and measure 17.9 mm in diameter.
  • LEGAL TENDER – These coins were 10 cents legal tender in the United States at a time when a dime could have purchased a loaf of bread or a quart of milk.
  • NICE COLLECTOR GRADE CONDITION – Each coin in your 1892–1916 Barber Dime Three-Piece Decades Set will come in Good to Very Good (G–VG) condition. Dates and mint marks will vary.

These are the dimes Americans used at the Turn of the Century before being replaced by the Mercury Dime. Get your Three-Piece Decades Set today!
