First Small-Sized Currency Set
Finding key-date coins can be a touch challenge. But finding key-date paper currency notes can be even tougher! Luckily, our expert team has managed to track down and assemble this three-piece set of paper currency notes that represent the first of their kind — the very first small-sized notes issued by the U.S. Treasury.
These notes are the same size as those we use today! This set contains a 1928 $1 Silver Certificate, a 1928 $2 Legal Tender Note, and a 1928 $5 Legal Tender Note. Each note comes in circulated condition, and bears iconic portraits of Presidents Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln that we know so well. However, the Silver Certificate is a variety known as the “funnyback” since the back’s light-green border and large, green ornamental “ONE” don’t match the contemporary black-and-white portrait on the front.
