Flawless Key-Date Silver Eagles from 2020

Flying high since 1986, the United States Mint's Silver Eagle program is one of the world's most popular annual coin series. In 2020, the program reached a crossroads. With a new reverse design set to replace John Mercanti's iconic "Heraldic Eagle" design midway through 2021, it marked the last full year of this American classic. The year also marked the rise of COVID's ugly head with the resulting worldwide pandemic putting the mint into a bind, forcing it suspend and shift production. Here you can secure three 2020-dated Silver Eagles that showcase all aspects of the coin's footprint on that milestone year–an Uncirculated coin, a Proof coin, and an Emergency Production coin–all certified and graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) and encapsulated with a label personally signed by the legendary John Mercanti!

Flawless, 2020-Dated American Silver Eagles

The Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Eagles will come in Mint State-70 (MS70) condition while the Proof and Emergency Production Eagles have been graded in Proof-70 (PF70) condition, distinctions that mean your perfectly-graded coins have ZERO imperfections–showing all features and fields exactly as the engraver and mint intended! IN addition, the Emergency Production Eagle has been certified as being a First Day of Issue (FDI) coin, meaning it was received by NGC or an NGC-approved depository by the release date or on the business day within 24 hours of the official release date. Collectors seek out these coins because they are produced with new dies and considered to have sharper strikes and deeper mirrors than those that are struck later. Also, the population of coins labeled First Day of Issue is only a fraction of the total mintage.

Just 240,000 "Emergency Production" Silver Eagles Struck By The Philadelphia Mint

The Philadelphia Mint struck just 240,000 bullion Silver Eagles over the course of two weeks from April 8-20, 2020, making this limited striking the second lowest mintage of Silver Eagles ever struck! Since bullion Silver Eagles are struck without mintmarks, however, there's no way collectors can know if their Silver Eagle is one of these "Emergency Production" releases. But thanks to our status within the coin world, we can! As an authorized re-seller of American Silver Eagles, we've been able to secure "monster boxes" that differentiate whether the coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint or the West Point Mint. Then, we sent the coins to NGC, where they we certified, graded and pedigreed as being "Struck at Philadelphia Mint" and "Emergency Production" issues.

Signed By A Coin World Giant

And the coup de grí¢ce for this spectacular three-piece collectors' set? Each coin has been sonically sealed in a museum-quality archival acrylic holder and encapsulated with a label personally signed by John Mercanti. The U.S. Mint's 12th Chief Engraver, Mercanti is a giant in the numismatic world. He has produced more coin and medal designs than any person in U.S. Mint history–including the "Heraldic Eagle" design that appeared on the American Silver Eagle from 1986 to 2021.

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • CLASSIC SILVER EAGLE DESIGNS – The Silver Eagle showcases Adolph A. Weinman's iconic design from the Walking Liberty Half Dollar that circulated from 1916 to 1947. The coin's reverse features the Heraldic Eagle design created by John Mercanti.
  • LAST FULL YEAR OF "HERALDIC EAGLE DESIGN – 2020 was the last full year for the "Heraldic Eagle" design. A new design replaced it midway through 2021.
  • CRAFTED IN HIGHLY PURE SILVER – Each American Silver Eagle is struck in one ounce of highly pure 99.9% fine silver and measures 40.6 mm in diameter.
  • UNITED STATES LEGAL TENDER – Silver Eagles are one dollar legal tender in the United States.
  • PERFECT UNCIRCULATED & PROOF CONDITION – Your Silver Eagles have been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being in either Perfect Mint State-70 (MS70) or Proof-70 (PF70) condition.
  • SIGNED BY JOHN MERCANTI – Each of your coins will be sonically sealed in an acrylic holder and encapsulated with a label personally signed by John Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. A giant in the numismatic world, Mercanti has produced more coin and medal designs than any person in U.S. Mint history!
  • SPECIAL EMERGENCY DESIGNATION – The 2020(P) Silver Eagle will include "Struck at Philadelphia Mint" and "Emergency Production" designations. West Point Mint typically strikes bullion Silver Eagles. Due to the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, however, Mint officials temporarily shut down the West Point facility and shifted production of bullion Silver Eagles to the Philadelphia Mint

No matter why you love collecting American Silver Eagles or how you've come to appreciate them, we have the 2020 Silver Eagles that are right and ready for your collection. Don't miss out, secure your John Mercanti-signed 2020 Silver Eagle Special Collectors' Three-Piece Set today!
