600th Anniversary of China’s Forbidden City

2020 marks the 600th anniversary of China’s most historical landmark — the Forbidden City. Built during the Ming Dynasty in the 15th century, this compound is China’s best-preserved imperial palace, as well as the largest ancient wooden palatial structure in the world. More than 980 buildings and more than 8,728 rooms make up the Forbidden City, as well as beautiful traditional Chinese architecture and statues.

To celebrate this historic anniversary, the China Mint has struck a variety of commemoratives for you to add to your collection. In this offer you can secure a three-piece silver set that features a trio of fantastic designs honoring the three major halls located within the Forbidden City: The Hall of Supreme Harmony (Taihe Dian), the Hall of Central Harmony (Zhonghe Dian) and the Hall of Preserving Harmony (Baohe Dian). Each rectangular-shaped coin is a 5 Yuan silver commemorative struck in fifteen grams of highly pure 99.9% fine silver.

Not only is each coin available in this set official legal tender in China, but each comes in Proof condition with frosty devices and mirrored fields. In fact, each coin in this 2020 China 15-Gram Silver 600th Anniversary of the Forbidden City Three-Piece Set has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as being in near-perfect Proof-69 Ultra Cameo (PF69UC) condition, a distinction that means these almost-flawless coins showcase impressive full strikes and indistinguishable imperfections — well above and beyond the quality of the vast majority of coins in the series. In addition, NGC has certified that these proofs are First Releases (FR) coins, a designation that means these coins were received by NGC or an NGC-approved depository within the first 30 days of their release.

The availability of these products outside of China cannot be overstated. Though 300,000 sets are possible, just 0.67% of that mintage (2,000 sets) were made available overseas. Domestically, expected demand is so high that Chinese citizens were limited to just one set per person — and the entire mintage is STILL expected to completely sell out at the mint! So, don’t wait — hurry and secure yours now!
