The Queen's Beasts–ten symbolic creatures that stood guard outside Westminster Cathedral on June 2, 1953, during the coronation ceremony of Great Britain's Queen Elizabeth II–are six-foot-tall statues each representing a part the realm's centuries-long royal lineage. To pay tribute to these unique and imposing statues, The Royal Mint has released a special limited-edition series of silver and gold bars that shows all 10 creatures!

Honoring Centuries Of Royal Lineage

This three-piece set of diamond-shaped bars consists of one- and 10-ounce bars struck in highly pure 99.99% pure silver and a one-ounce bar struck in 99.99% pure gold. These bullion bars features the Lion of England, the Unicorn of Scotland, the Red Dragon of Wales, the Black Bull of Clarence, the Falcon of the Plantagenets, the Yale of Beaufort, the White Lion of Mortimer, the White Horse of Hanover, the White Greyhound of Richmond, and the Griffin of Edward III–circled around the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as she looked in 1953. Each has been beautifully captured by the talented Jody Clark, the modern coin legend who crafted the 10 previous designs in the series and whose skill and artistry continue to shine through on these pieces. The statues, created by James Woodford, symbolized different aspects of the Queen's ancestry and are now displayed at the Canadian Museum of History.
