Here we have an 1864 $5 Note printed the year that Union General William T. Sherman captured Atlanta and began his "March to the Sea," campaign that assured President Abraham Lincoln would be elected for a second term. This note features the same obverse as the 1863 note, but with "FIVE" across the back instead of a V. This note is of particular fascination for collectors, as an 1864 $5 Confederate Note was found in Lincoln's wallet on the day he was assassinated.
