In 2026, GOVMINT will lead the celebration telling America’s story through coinage, partnered with mints from around the world in one of the most exciting years the collecting community has ever seen.

America was founded on bold ideas of independence and self-governance. In the years that followed, the United States Mint
was established in 1792, transforming those ideals into a shared national identity through currency.
Great Britain undeniably shaped America’s early history, from shared political and cultural foundations to the Revolution that forged a new nation. Over time, conflict gave way to an enduring relationship built on shared values, cooperation, and alliance.
The Netherlands, then the Dutch Republic, provided vital financial support and early recognition to the United States during the American Revolution. Britain later declared war on the Dutch, expanding the conflict and underscoring their role in America’s fight for independence.
Long before America’s borders took shape, the Mesa Grande Band of Diegueño Mission Native Americans called Southern California home. As a new nation emerged, federal decisions forever altered Native life, culminating in the creation of the Mesa Grande reservation in 1875.

As the American colonies rebelled, Spain subtly supplied arms to the cause, with weapons reaching New England as early as 1775. In 1779, Spain formally entered the conflict alongside France, increasing pressure on Great Britain and shaping the outcome of the American Revolution.
Long before Italy was unified, Italian history and thinkers influenced the ideas behind American independence. The Corsican independence movement and the legacy of the Roman Republic contributed to the principles that guided the Founding Fathers.
Though far from the battlefields of the Revolution, Australia’s early history was molded by the aftermath of American independence, as Britain expanded its empire in the Pacific after losing the American colonies. Today, Australia and the United States stand as close allies.
France closely followed the American Revolution, with Benjamin Franklin securing support in Paris and the Marquis de Lafayette fighting alongside American forces. The alliance formed in 1778 helped turn the tide of the war, and the American struggle later influenced revolutionary movements in France itself.
Part of the British Empire, Canada figured into the American Revolution from the start, valued for its land and trade. American leaders appealed to Quebec and launched campaigns north in 1775 and 1776, but those efforts ultimately failed. Today, Canada and the United States maintain a close relationship.
