• EXCEPTIONAL PORTRAIT OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT -- This Lysimachus coin of silver shows the deified head of Alexander the Great wearing a Horn of Ammon (ram's horn), symbolic of the Greco-Egyptian composite god Zeus-Ammon, along with a diadem -- a cloth headband with ivy. This and similar renditions of Alexander on Lysimachus' coinage are widely regarded as among the most gripping portraits of Alexander on coinage. The reverse depicts a seated Athena holding a Nike crowning Lysimachus's' name, along with a legend that translates as "Of King Lysimachus".
