Extremely Rare Silver Tetradrachm Struck by the Successor of Alexander the Great!

Imagine admiring a leader so vehemently, that you'd do anything or go anywhere he'd ask. Even lay down your life in the process. That was how the followers of Alexander the Great felt. The ancient Macedonian ruler was one of the greatest military minds producing one of the largest empires the ancient world had ever seen.  Now imagine living up to his name and fame as his successor: enter Lysimachus. Lysimachus became king in 306BC and whether he did it to honor Alexander or just to flaunt a connection with such a revered leader, he was first to put a Greek king on a coin. And we have one of the only seven known to man.

Secure this amazing piece of history today at GovMint.com.  This coin is truly a collector's dream with mint marks and a year that is so rare it's an unmatched treasure. There are only seven, and we only have ONE, so run, don't walk to get this extremely desirable and highly sought-after piece!

  • EXTREMELY RARE, 1 OF 7 -- One of only seven of this type of coin EVER, this silver tetradrachm is from a series so rare, there is no known published study for them. According to market records, no other coins from this mint are known to have been sold in the past 40 years. The other six coins were sold at European auctions from 1913 – 1975.

  • EXCEPTIONAL PORTRAIT OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT -- This Lysimachus coin of silver shows the deified head of Alexander the Great wearing a Horn of Ammon (ram's horn), symbolic of the Greco-Egyptian composite god Zeus-Ammon, along with a diadem -- a cloth headband with ivy. This and similar renditions of Alexander on Lysimachus' coinage are widely regarded as among the most gripping portraits of Alexander on coinage. The reverse depicts a seated Athena holding a Nike crowning Lysimachus's' name, along with a legend that translates as "Of King Lysimachus". A RKI control monogram shows in left field and an EQ control monogram is in the exergue.

  • THE GRADE? FINE. THE MINT? A MYSTERY -- Graded About Uncirculated (AU) "Fine Style" condition by NGC with a strike 5/5 and surface 4/5, this coin is a collector’s dream, struck at an uncertain mint in Thrace. The 29mm diameter's coin is Circa 260 B.C.
