Canadian Silver Half Dollars From The First World War

For a nation of just eight million people, Canada’s efforts during World War I were extraordinary. More than 650,000 men and women from Canada and Newfoundland served in the war effort, and in their pockets sat the last Canadian Half Dollar to feature a crowned monarch.

Between 1917 and 1919, just 2.6 million of these coins were struck — that’s 42 million fewer than the number of U.S. Walking Liberty Half Dollar struck during the same time period! That’s why we couldn’t believe our luck when we recently secured a number of these coins. And now we’re making them available to you!

Each of these World War I-era Canadian Half Dollars were struck in nearly half an ounce (11.6 grams) of highly pure 92.5% Sterling and come in Good to Very Good (G–VG) condition. Add one of these coins to your cart and pay tribute to the brave members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) who courageously served in “The War to End All Wars.” Dates will vary between 1917 and 1919.
