Struck the year of America declared its independence from Great Britain, this British Gold Guinea contains 8.35 grams of 91.7% (22 karat) gold and features the smug effigy of the king who underestimated the American spirit. Though struck in England, these coins were also carried in the pockets of our own Founding Fathers and accepted as legal tender in the 13 colonies for during and after the Revolutionary War until the United States was able to strike its own coins.

Created before steam-powered presses, this is known as a "machine struck" coin, created using a hand-operated press. Finding them in high grades is incredibly difficult, but this coin comes graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being in Choice About Uncirculated-58 (AU58) condition with almost all of its original mint luster remaining.
