When Sköll (One Who Mocks) and & Hati (One Who Hates) catch their prey the sky and earth will darken and collapse. Since the sun and the moon are essential for light and life, their destruction would destroy the world. Sköll & Hati embody the forces of chaos and destruction that constantly threaten the balance of the world. Depicted on this round, the pair are seen circling the planet chasing the sun and the moon. A golden tint has been added to the sun and a luminous white tint has been added to the moon using UV printing to capture the different characteristics of each celestial body. The medal’s reverse shows the Germania Mint’s double-headed eagle crest along with symbols representing the sun and moon.
