Gold Treasure Reveals a Valiant Queen Against All Odds

With the outbreak of World War I in 1914, the gold standard came to an abrupt end in Europe. During this time prudent individuals deposited their gold coins in Swiss banks for safekeeping. Now, collectors can own coins just like this in amazing condition.

Each legal-tender 1897 Netherlands 10 Guilders coin is struck in .1947 ounce of 90% gold and features the young Queen Wilhelmina on the obverse and the Dutch Coat of Arms on the reverse.

After her father died Princess Wilhelmina of the Netherlands became the queen only because her half-brothers were deceased and because a law forbidding female rulers was repealed. While her reign spanned both world wars, she maintained a united front of strength and unity - even during the Dutch resistance during Nazi occupation.

Each coin is in crisp, uncirculated Mint State-63 (MS63) condition, and has been certified, graded and secured in an acrylic holder by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Hurry and stash one away before the rest in our vault disappear into others' collections.
