Own Gold Struck Under the Reign of Napoleon Bonaparte!

What an incredible find! Napoleon Bonaparte 20 Francs are extremely difficult to come by today -- especially in higher-graded conditions. Fortunately, our buyers have located a number of these gorgeous gold coins minted at the height of his empire!

Dated 1810, these coins circulated during the year Napoleon’s French Empire reached its greatest extent and held sway over much of continental Europe. It was also the year he married his second wife, Austrian Archduchess Marie-Louise. On the political front, the marriage helped Napoleon solidify his alliance with Austria. On a personal level, he hoped the union would produce an heir – something his first wife, Josephine, had been unable to do.

Each of these 20 Francs coins was struck in .1867 ounces of gold by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) and feature the mint’s “A” mint mark. Each also comes graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as being in About Uncirculated-55 (AU55) condition. This is a remarkable grade when you consider that once Napoleon was defeated and exiled in 1814, coins featuring his likeness were rounded up and destroyed in an attempt to prove to the public that this time he wasn’t coming back. Of course, they were quite wrong, as he returned a year later from exile to march on Paris, temporarily seizing control once more until his final defeat at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

These coins represent an incredibly important time in world history, and display one of history’s most interesting figures. Secure one now for your collection!
