America's Peace Silver Dollar Struck As Massive Oversized Proof

American Silver Dollars from 1878 to 2025 reflect a rich historical narrative, marking key cultural moments and shifts in the nation, from the optimism of the post-Civil War era embodied in the Peace Dollar to the modern values represented by the American Silver Eagle. Economically, these coins have played a crucial role in trade and commerce, symbolizing the evolution of U.S. currency while also serving as collectibles that connect people to the nation's financial history and heritage. Now, an exciting new series from the New York Mint© features America's most famous vintage and modern coin designs struck on oversized planchets!

Struck In Highly Pure 99.9% Silver

Though not legal tender, these stunning commemoratives are produced in two ounces of highly pure 99.9% fine silver layered over a massive copper core, each coin design is more than three inches in diameter and features incredible High Relief detail. These releases in the 150 Years of U.S. Silver Dollars Grand Heritage Edition feature commemorative reproductions of the first year of issue of each of the most collectible vintage U.S. silver dollar coins, dual dated with the current release year: 1878–2025 Morgan Dollar, 1922–2025 Peace Dollar, 1971–2025 Eisenhower Dollar, 1986–2025 Silver Eagle Type I Dollar, and 2021–2025 Silver Eagle Type II Dollar.

The Peace Silver Dollar

Here you can secure the Grand Heritage Commemorative that pays tribute to the Peace Dollar, a coin that holds a significant place in numismatic history, representing a period of transition and hope in the aftermath of World War I. The obverse of the Peace Silver Dollar features a striking image of Lady Liberty. Created by sculptor Anthony de Francisci, Liberty is depicted with radiant rays crowning her head, symbolizing the dawn of a new era. She faces left, and the word "Liberty" is inscribed above her, while the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST" is placed to the side. De Francisci included his initials "AF" at the base of the neck, making the Peace Dollar one of the few U.S. coins to feature its designer's initials. The reverse showcases a majestic bald eagle perched on a rock, holding an olive branch–a universal symbol of peace. The eagle is bathed in sunlight, reinforcing the theme of hope and tranquility. The word "PEACE" is prominently displayed below the eagle, and the motto "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" encircles the top. The Peace Silver Dollar was minted from 1921 to 1928, and again in 1934 and 1935. Its production was interrupted due to a hiatus in silver dollar minting. In 2021, the United States Mint issued a special 100th-anniversary edition of the Peace Silver Dollar, this time in 99.9% pure silver.
