Remembering The Sons Of Liberty

Prior to the American Revolution, protection of the Thirteen Colonies was often up to the local citizens. Militias and other organizations were founded, including the secret society known as the Sons of Liberty. A formal underground organization, the Sons of Liberty fought British taxation with their motto “no taxation without representation,” and helped unify the Colonies against their overseas rulers. A well-organized Patriot paramilitary political organization that was shrouded in secrecy, members of the Sons of Liberty worked hard to undermine British rule in colonial America and were influential in pulling off the Boston Tea Party—one of America’s earliest political protests and one that celebrates its 250th Anniversary on March 23, 2023!
