From a Hoard of America’s First “Gold Double Eagles”

Before the United States had its own currency, it was Spanish Gold Escudos that exchanged hands in commerce. The coins were even granted legal tender status by the Second Continental Congress in 1776 and were used as legal tender until 1857. They were truly America’s first Gold Double Eagles!

But while American collectors are chiefly concerned with the coin’s connection and importance to the fledgling United States economy, the legend and lore of the Gold Escudo coins were not limited to America’s shores alone. These coins are synonymous with legendary tales of bloodthirsty pirates and their chests of buried treasure. They were also struck in several places along the Spanish Main throughout the New World.

Ad here’s the proof — an absolutely wonderful find consisting of nearly 100 Eight Escudos coins. This is by far the largest hoard of these coins we have ever encountered in one collection. What’s more, the European collector who amassed this hoard was very particular and made a point to meticulously assemble only the best quality coins, seeking out the finest and most sought-after grades and types.

We’ve selected only the best of the best and now you have the chance to add one of these amazing coins to your collection. In this offer you can secure a Gold 8 Escudos coin from Mexico struck in 1804 at the Mexico City Mint (MO). What’s more, this spectacular coin has been certified and graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as being in About Uncirculated (AU55) condition, a remarkable grade at especially for a coin that is nearly 220 years old!

Any one of the coins from the fabulous hoard would be an incredible acquisition, as its estimated that less than 5% of all Spanish Gold Escudos minted survive in any condition. Add it to your collection today!
