Designed by Don Troiani, an artist known for his depictions of battle scenes, the obverse of this commemorative silver dollar features a soldier offering a canteen to another wounded soldier. The John Mercanti-designed reverse features the Gettysburg landscape and a quote from Joshua Chamberlain, who fought in the battle. The coin contains 26.73 grams of 90% pure silver, and is the same size and weight as the Morgan Silver Dollar.
