Commemorating a Century of Civil War Battlefield Preservation

Since the establishment of Gettysburg National Military Park in 1895, countless numbers of men and women have worked to preserve the battlefields of the Civil War. Their collective efforts have created places of remembrance, honor and education for future generations. In 1995, the Civil War Battlefields Silver Dollar was issued by the U.S. Min to commemorative 100 years of preservation. Now, govmint.com has secured a number of these commemoratives graded Proof-69 (PF69) by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). The grading service that certifies your commemorative will vary between the two.

Designed by Don Troiani, an artist known for his depictions of battle scenes, the obverse of this commemorative silver dollar features a soldier offering a canteen to another wounded soldier. The John Mercanti-designed reverse features the Gettysburg landscape and a quote from Joshua Chamberlain, who fought in the battle. The coin contains 26.73 grams of 90% pure silver, and is the same size and weight as the Morgan Silver Dollar.

These San Francisco Mint-struck proofs can be difficult to locate today, especially in the near-perfect grade of Proof-69. Don't miss out on this opportunity to add this special Commemorative Silver Dollar to your collection. Order yours today!
