1922-D & S Peace Silver Dollars 2-pc Set BU
The First Peace Dollars From The Denver And San Francisco Mints
The very first Peace Silver Dollars were minted at the “Mother Mint” in Philadelphia in late December 1921. That small first-year mintage was struck as a High Relief one-year-only commemorative celebrating the end of World War I. The design was so popular that beginning in 1922 the United States Mint also began striking the now low relief coins at the Denver and San Francisco Mints, though combined their mintage in 1922 is nearly 57% less than Philadelphia. The coin wound up being rather short-lived, struck for just 10 years, but the legacy lives on in collections around the world. The last of the 90% fine silver dollar coins, these come in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. Thanks to the 100th anniversary of this coin in 2021, demand has been sizzling so secure yours now!
COIN HIGHLIGHTS:
- FAMOUS PEACE SILVER DOLLAR – While not produced in the same numbers as the Morgan Silver Dollar, the Peace Silver Dollar series has seen its reputation grow with each passing year. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, it features a design of Lady Liberty on the obverse and a perched eagle on the reverse. It was struck from only 1921 to 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935.
- FIRST SAN FRANCISCO & DENVER PEACE DOLLARS – This set includes the first Peace Dollars struck by the San Francisco and Denver Mints in 1922.
- STRUCK IN FINE SILVER – Each Peace Silver Dollar was struck in 26.73 grams of highly pure 90% silver and measures 38.1 mm in diameter.
- LEGAL TENDER U.S. COINAGE – These coins were $1 legal tender in the United States and circulated widely during the Roaring ’20s and Depression-era ’30s.
- BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED CONDITION – Each Peace Dollar in this two-coin set will come in gleaming Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition with complete details and lots of mint luster.
The Peace Dollar was America’s last dollar series struck entirely in 90% fine silver. Don’t miss your chance to obtain the first coins struck at the San Francisco and Denver Mints!
