Ancient Greek Hekte of Kyzicus -- Less Than 10 Known to Still Exist!

Struck between 450 and 350 B.C., this ancient Greek coin comes struck in electrum, a naturally occurring metal comprised of both gold and silver. It features an owl on the obverse, a design possibly taken from the mass-circulated Athena Owl coins being struck in Athens at the time.

What makes this coin so incredibly rare is the fact that this owl design was not typical of coins struck in the Meletos colony of Kyzicus. A commercial center with access to the Sea of Marmara, their coins normally featured fish designs -- making this piece a collector’s dream.

The coin is also beautifully struck, especially for its 10 mm diameter. It’s been graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as Extremely Fine (XF) with a Strike 5/5 and Surface 4/5, making it a fascinating piece to examine. Just one of these extremely rare ancient Greek coins is available, and less than 10 are known to exist. Don’t wait -- order now!
