2023’s Burnished Silver Eagles Are Here!

Since 1986, the United States Mint has released Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition bullion Silver Eagles every year. And, with the understandable exception of 2009, annual Silver Eagle Proofs have always followed close behind. However, there’s one type of Silver Eagle that has a far fewer collective mintage than either one above—the Burnished Silver Eagle. Struck from specially burnished planchets, these Silver Eagles are perennial collector favorites—that is, when they see the light of day! First introduced in 2006, the Burnished Silver Eagle saw three years of production before taking a pause in 2009 and 2010 due to The Great Recession. Minting resumed in 2011 and has been going strong ever since. Now, the 2023 Eagles have landed!

America’s Most Iconic Symbols Struck With A Magnificent Matte Finish!

the 2023 Burnished Silver Eagle showcases the best of American artistry and craftsmanship. It starts with the famous image designed by American Sculptor Adolph Weinman for the Walking Liberty Half Dollar that was struck from 1916 to 1947. It features Lady Liberty striding proudly forward, her body draped in an American flag, as a new day dawns. The coin’s reverse is the work of Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) artist Emily Damstra and was sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. It displays a full image of a Bald Eagle coming in for a landing with an oak branch held in its talons as if to add to its nest. The artisans at the West Point Mint then added a special dimension to this time-tested standard. Each one ounce blank of highly pure 99.9% fine silver is specially burnished, giving the finished Silver Eagle a smooth matte finish. In addition, the coin is also struck with a special “W” mintmark, unlike the regular-issue Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Eagles.

Perfect Burnished Silver Eagles From Among The First Issued!

Here you can secure FIVE 2023 Burnished Silver Eagles, each graded by either the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) or the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) as being in flawless Uncirculated Mint State-70 (MS70) condition, a distinction that means these perfectly-graded coins have ZERO imperfections—showing all features and fields exactly as the engraver and mint intended. In addition, these Silver Eagles have been pedigreed with a special First Day of Issue (FDI) certification, meaning they were purchased within one day of the first day they were available for sale and were received by NGC/PCGS or an NGC/PCGS-approved depository within one week of the release date along with documentation that demonstrates the date when they were purchased.

Signed By Giants In The Coin World

As if all this was enough, get this: Each coin has been sonically sealed in an acrylic holder with a black display core and encapsulated with a label that was personally signed by a giant in the coin world. Designer Emily Damstra, U.S. Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso, John Mercanti, the U.S. Mint’s now-retired 12th Chief Engraver, Elizabeth Jones, the Mint’s 11th Chief Engraver, and GOVMINT ambassador and  former U.S. Mint Director David Ryder all signed one of the Silver Eagles!

While recent production numbers for BU Silver Eagles can be measured in tens of millions, average Burnished Silver Eagle mintages usually count in the low 100,000s. Combine those figures with this Silver Eagle's superb finish and you can see why these coins don’t take up residence in our vault for long. Don’t wait—make these 2023 Burnished Silver Eagles part of your collection today!
