The variety of images circling around the coin show a close-up image of a big horned Cape Buffalo, a herd of Buffalos galloping across the savannah, a pair group of Buffalos cooling off in a water hole, and a solitary Buffalos shading itself beneath the branches of an acacia tree.

Though its cow-like name may seem to ascribe harmless qualities to the Cape Buffaloes, these obstinate creatures are known to kill more hunters in Africa than any other wildlife animal. Many a tale has been shared over campfires about how hunters have been ambushed by ornery old buffalo bulls during safari expeditions. To create this fascinating piece, a state-of-the-art six-piece die setup and special bands were used to strike each side multiple times with equal pressure. Once the coins are struck, they were put through extra steps to give them a unique antiqued finish.
