Vanishing Coins Of The Civil War Collection 7 Pieces
Vanishing Victims of the Civil War
The coins that Americans carried in their pockets at the beginning of the Civil War rapidly disappeared from circulation as war-time inflation raged and folks hoarded them. The inflation got so bad that even copper coins disappeared, and merchants had to strike their own Civil War “tokens” to keep commerce from grinding to a halt. Through diligent searching our buyers accumulated a small number of the coins that disappeared during the War Between the States. This seven-coin set includes: a Silver Half Dime, Seated Quarter and Half Dollar (all 90% silver); and an Indian Cent, Two Cent Piece, Three Cent Nickel, and a Civil War Token. Each is in Very Good (VG) to Very Fine (VF) condition, all struck between 1852 and 1865. Each set comes in a presentation case with a certificate of authenticity and a story book about Civil War coins and currency.
