Prime Hoard Of 100 Discovered! Celebrating Vasco Nuñez De Balboa

Minted between 1931-1947, this 1 Balboa Panama legal-tender silver coin bears the image of Vasco Nuñez de Balboa, the first European to reach the Pacific Ocean from the New World. On the reverse, Balboa is depicted in armor characteristic of the conquistadors, while on the obverse is the Panamanian Lady Liberty design, recognized by experts at the Philadelphia Mint as one of the most beautiful images to ever grace a coin! With the same specs as the United States Morgan Silver Dollar, each of these is struck in highly pure 90% fine silver and measures 38.1 mm diameter. Yours will arrive in Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated (XF–AU) condition. This coin was struck in 1931, 1934 and 1947 (date our choice) and the mintages were low at only 200,000, 225,000 and 500,000 respectively. Secure yours now before all 100 we have available are gone!

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • CELEBRATING AN HISTORIC FIGURE – Minted in 1953, this coin bears the image of Vasco Nunez de Balboa, who was the first European to explore the Isthmus of Panama’s Atlantic Coast, which he did in 1501. He is depicted in armor that was characteristic of the conquistadors.
  • HIGH PRAISE FROM AMERICANS – The experts at the Philadelphia Mint recognized the Panamanian Lady Liberty reverse design by Panamanian artist Roberto Lewis as one of the most beautiful images ever to grace a coin.
  • PANAMANIAN LEGAL TENDER – This coin is 1 Balboa legal tender in Panama. Panama became the second dollarized country in North America in 1904 at which time the Balboa was pegged to the dollar at 1:1. Dollars have freely circulated there since then. Panama is best known for its famous canal, which sped up world trade dramatically when it opened in 1914.
  • WELL PRESERVED – This coin comes in Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated (XF–AU) condition.
  • A VERY RARE FIND! – These coins are rarely seen in the market. In fact, we haven’t handled Balboa coins for 3 years, and it could be another 3 years before we have them available again!

This coin would fit well with collections of Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars, which were struck to the same specifications. The coin beautifully symbolizes the rich history of the country that issued it. Order yours before it’s too late!
