The Irresistible Charm of Baldur, The Germanic Gods' Most Handsome Deity
The world-famous Germania Mint has thrown open a portal that has given collectors entry to the pantheon of Germanic Gods with a new series of cast silver bars that present these mythological deities in all their mystique. The captivating Germanic Gods series begins with Baldur, the god of light, beauty, goodness, and wisdom. He was considered the most beautiful and favorite of the gods. Struck in two ounces of highly pure 99.99% silver, the handsome selectively colorized design shows Baldur as a chiseled specimen of manhood with light skin, hair, and eyelashes that emphasize his unique masculine beauty. The splash of color literally pops off the bar thanks to its unique antique finish that adds incredible depth and dimension to the already impressive design. Typically applied by hand, this antique finish means that no two bars are exactly alike!
The Personification Of All That Is Pure And Beautiful In The World
The Germanic gods may not be as well-known as the immortal beings of Greek mythology, but their tales are every bit as exciting and jam-packed with life lessons that everyone can appreciate. The beloved son of Odin and Frigg, Baldur is the personification of all that is pure and beautiful in the world. He fell victim to half-brother Loki's treachery during one of the many feasts where the Norse gods amused themselves by hurling deadly objects at Baldur due to the fact that he was immune from harm. Loki, jealous of Baldur's status among the other gods, tricked the blind god Höd into shooting an arrow made of mistletoe, the only thing that could hurt Baldur. The gods arranged a lavish funeral for their fallen friend, using his ship as a pyre. As Baldur's body was carried onto the ship, his wife, Nanna, was overcome with great grief and died there on the spot and was placed on the pyre alongside her husband. Upon Baldur's body, Odin placed his golden ring, "Draupnir," which would resurrect Baldur during the end days of Ragnarök and make him the highest of the gods.
