Well, get ready to be familiarized with this fascinating six-piece collection that consists of coins from all six countries where the Orient Express made stops, including: France silver 50 Centimes, Germany silver 2 Marks, Austria silver Corona, Hungary silver 2 Pengo, Romania 2 Lei, and Turkey 2.5 Kurus.

The Orient Express In Fact And Fiction

The Orient Express appears frequently in literature—not just in the classic whodunit by Dame Agatha Christie, literature’s “Queen of Crime.” Other famous works include Dracula by Bram Stoker in which the vampire hunters ride the train as they track the titular undead vampire count back to his castle in Transylvania, and Ian Fleming’s From Russia With Love where British super spy James Bond escapes from Russian agents with a beautiful young cipher clerk on the famous train. Created by the Belgian company Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits in 1883, the Orient Express was a long-distance passenger train service with main terminals in Paris, Istanbul, Athens, Brussels, and London. Its routes were eventually modified, due to the popularity of air travel, and the line ceased operations in 2007.
