From the "Mother Mint" to You, an Extraordinary Morgan!

Established in 1792 at the dawn of U.S. coinage, the Philadelphia mint is known as the "Mother Mint." Home to some of the most beloved series of coins over the past two centuries, it's fitting that it also produced the Morgan Silver Dollar, easily one of the most recognized coins in the world. The 1881 edition of the Morgan recalls a time of great turmoil, when James A. Garfield, the 20th President of the United States, was assassinated, the famed gunfight at the O.K. Corral took place in Tombstone, Arizona, and Sioux Indian Chief Sitting Bull surrendered to U.S. troops. Now you can own a coin equally rich in American history with the 1881 Morgan Silver Dollar.

The obverse of the coin was designed by George T. Morgan, the 7th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, and -- not surprisingly -- it's the design Morgan is best known for. His obverse features the bust of Lady Liberty facing left with stars circling her head. Inscribed on it is "LIBERTY," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the date 1881. An eagle graces the reverse of the coin, wings outspread, clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons. The reverse also includes the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR," as well as the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST," written in archaic lettering. With a very high grade for this type of coin and year, MS64, Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) certifies that your Morgan will arrive at your doorstep in mint, uncirculated and barely-marked condition. Quantities are limited, however, so order yours today!
