50th Anniversary Of WWII Commemorative Proof Half Dollar

Allies vs. the Axis—America’s involvement in World War II lasted from 1941 to 1945 and featured huge roles from President Franklin D. Roosevelt, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, General Douglas MacArthur, Admiral Chester Nimitz, General Omar Bradley, and a host of leaders who helped the Allies prevail. This copper-nickel half-dollar coin was issued in 1993 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of America’s involvement in World War II.

“V” For Victory!

Struck with dual dates of 1991 and 1995 to mark the 50th anniversary of the war, the coin’s obverse depicts the faces of a solider, sailor, and airman looking upwards while a B-17 bomber flies overhead with a “V” for victory in the background while the reverse depicts a battle scene from the Pacific Islands. This coin was struck in both Uncirculated and Proof versions at the “Mother Mint” in Philadelphia. Here you can secure the gorgeous Proof version that was expertly crafted by the mint from hand-selected planchets, polished dies, and multiple strikes to produce beautifully frosted details rising over mirror-like fields. Just 317,396 of these 1993-P WWII Commemorative Half Dollar Proofs were struck at the Philadelphia Mint so act fast to secure one for your collection!
