Each coin was sealed into a large black GSA holder. Today, many collectors believe these holders were the inspiration for today’s “slab.” Over the years, most of these GSA CC Morgans have been removed from their original holders. These Sets are especially significant considering that of the 650 million Morgans that were struck from 1878-1904 and in 1921, just 13.8 million—only 2%—were struck at the Carson City Mint and have the “CC” mint mark!
