Scarce U.S. Gold Coins Finally Elude the Government

In 1934, the United States government passed the Gold Reserve Act. The purpose of the act was to protect the currency system of the United States by providing a better use of the country’s monetary gold stock. This was the height of the Great Depression, and what the Act really did was outlaw most private possession of gold. By law, it forced people to sell their gold coins to the U.S. Treasury, after which most of it was stored at the U.S. Bullion Depository at Fort Knox.

Now, more than 80 years later, you can buy back some of this gold that has been hoarded by the government. The gold coins we have obtained were secured from the General Services Administration (GSA) and, like the silver dollars sales between 1972 and 1980, the coins we have represent surplus government property that the GSA was responsible for selling. Unlike the famous Morgan Silver Dollars sold off in the 1970s, however, the gold coins that were made available came not from uncirculated mint bags, but from coins confiscated in criminal cases or from the gold coins the government bought back in the 1930s. These were coins that had been in the hands of the public and had circulated to some degree. Each coin we have has been sealed into a GSA holder and graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).

In this offer you can obtain not one, not two, but FOUR different U.S. gold coins that combine to create an eclectic gold type set featuring all of America’s common denominations. Your 4-piece U.S. Gold NGC Type Set includes:

  • 1912-P $2.50 Gold Indian in About Uncirculated-58 (AU58) condition.
  • 1906-P $5 Gold Liberty between About Uncirculated-58 (AU58) and Mint State-62 (MS62) condition – grade varies.
  • 1880-P $10 Gold Liberty in Extremely Fine-45 (XF45) condition
  • 1928-P $20 Gold Saint-Gaudens in Mint State-63 (MS63) condition

It’s difficult to find these coins in higher grades, however your coins have been graded by NGC and range from showing only slight wear on the highest points of the design and full details to being quite attractive with lots of mint luster.

  • CLASSIC U.S. COIN DESIGNS – Your 4-pc U.S. Gold NGC Type Set offers three different gold coin designs, including the classic Lady Liberty on the 1906 $5 Half Eagle and 1880 $10 Eagle, the unique incuse design on the 1912 $2.50 Quarter Eagle, and the brilliant Augustus Saint-Gaudens design on the 1928 Gold Double Eagle.

  • STRUCK IN PURE AMERICAN GOLD – These coins have all been struck in 90% American gold.

  • LEGAL TENDER U.S. COINAGE – Each coin is a legal-tender U.S. coin with denominations ranging from a $2.50 Quarter Eagle all the way up to a $20 Double Eagle.

  • FANTASTIC GRADES FOR COINS THIS OLD – With dates ranging from 1880 to 1928 and a span of 138 years for the oldest coin to 90 years for the set’s most recent addition, the range of grades in this collection is amazing.
