Building on the legacy of the Australian Gold Nugget, Koala, and Kangaroo coins, the Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle series began in 2014 and helped bolster the mint’s legendary status in the world of coin collectibles and numismatics.

 In just five years, it has become one of Perth Mint’s best-selling series, especially with collectors in the United States. And with good reason! Each design in the Wedge-Tailed Eagle series comes courtesy of John Mercanti, 12thChief Engraver of the U.S. Mint and designer of the U.S. Silver Eagle reverse.

 The Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle series marks the first time in history that a former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver has designed a legal-tender coin series for a foreign world mint. And as you can see, the results are stunning. Mercanti is known as the man who has created more coin and medal designs than any other U.S. Mint engraver in history—and the new 2020 Wedge-Tailed Eagle is surely among his finest works to date.

For 2020’s one-year-only design, Mercanti gives us an incredibly intricate, close-up look at Australia’s largest bird of prey as it prepares to dive for its next meal. It’s as exciting as it is beautiful, especially when struck in High Relief Proof condition!

High Relief Proofs
Minted in Proof condition, these coins feature frosted devices and mirrored fields. Even better, these coins were also struck in High Relief, with concave fields that allow the designs to sit even higher off of the mirrored fields for an extreme level of contrast.

Struck in Gold, Silver or Platinum
These latest release present you with a variety of choices for your collection. You can secure a 2020 Wedge-Tailed Eagle Proof struck in two ounces of 99.995 pure gold, two ounces of 99.99% fine silver, or a full ounce of 99.95% pure platinum. But the excitement doesn’t end there.

The Two-Ounce Gold Wedge-Tailed Eagle Proof comes struck in stunning High Relief, with frosty designs that sit high over concave, mirrored fields for an exceptional level of contrast.

Looking for added heft to your Wedge-Tailed Eagle? The Two-Ounce Silver Wedge-Tailed Eagle Proof comes struck on a double-thick Piedfort planchet, for twice the amount of silver in the same classic 40.6-millimeter diameter.

Each coin comes struck in Proof condition, with frosty designs and mirror-like fields. They’re also official Australia legal tender, with values of $200 (gold), $2 (silver) and $100 (platinum), respectfully.

Certified Flawless and FDI
When these coins were issued, we immediately sent them off to Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), one of the world’s top third-party grading services, for grading and certification. The coins we’re offering here are have been graded as perfect Proof-70 Ultra Cameo (PF70 UC) condition—flawless even under magnification! In addition, the silver coins have been certified as First Day of Issue (FDI)—a designation highly coveted by those seeking out the freshest coins possible. FDI coins are certified as having been received for grading within the first 24 hours of the mintage’s release.

Exclusive Hand-Signed Labels
