Elcano was the navigator for Ferdinand Magellan's voyage to circumnavigate the globe. After Magellan's death in 1521, Elcano led the tattered remains of Magellan's fleet back to Spain.
• Erasmus Programme – The third coin is dedicated to the 35th Anniversary of the Erasmus Programme, an acronym of the official name in English, European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students, a European Community Action Plan that promotes the educational mobility of university students.
