These coins were struck from 1865 to 1867 by the United States Mint when silver was being hoarded by nervous and wear-weary civilians, making the nation’s circulating silver coins virtually nonexistent in daily commerce. The obverse of each features Lady Liberty facing left, and the reverse features a wreath surrounding a Roman numeral III. Each coin comes in Fine (F) condition, and the entire three-piece set comes beautifully housed in a deluxe presentation case.

Though demand for the 3-cent coin quickly dwindled after 1870, they continued to be struck until 1889. You don’t find sets like these often on the market, so act now before your chances at acquiring one aren’t worth a plugged nickel!
