Own The Coin Of The Rockefellers, Carnegies & Tiffanys

What's the first image that comes into your mind when you think of wealth and prosperity? For many of us, it's tall, shining stacks of gold. For families like the Rockefellers, Carnegies, and Tiffanys, that gold took the form of these $10 U.S. Gold Liberty coins. The beautiful coin–also known as a Gold Eagle–is the second largest U.S. gold denomination struck for circulation. These coins circulated widely in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but then tragedy struck. President Franklin Roosevelt made private gold ownership illegal in 1933, and millions of these beautiful, golden pieces of U.S. history were recalled and melted down into the gold bars now housed in Fort Knox. It's estimated that less than 10% of all vintage U.S. gold coins still survive!

Christian Gobrecht's Famous Gold Liberty

Here you can secure one of those historic coins struck between 1866 and 1907. Originally designed in 1838 by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Christian Gobrecht, the coin features Lady Liberty, wearing her hair in a tight bun with curls along her neck and a coronet on her head inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." The reverse features a Bald Eagle with wings spread and a stars-and-stripes shield on its breast. The design was inspired by British-American artist Benjamin West's depiction of Venus in his 1809 painting Love Conquers All. The coin was minted until 1907 with only one major change to the design–the addition of the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" in 1866. The addition was a nod to the country's religious and philosophical mood following the carnage of the Civil War.

An Important Coin In Commerce

This coin was a very important coin of commerce. Throughout the 19th century, the United States was on the gold standard, and although silver coins circulated with a high intrinsic value, only gold coins were thought of as real "money." As a result, they moved around a lot, first from the mint to the banks and then from bank to bank. Because they're also heavy, these $10 Gold Eagles were easily damaged in transport–nobody really cared at the time. That's why finding one in nice condition like this makes each one available in this offer a real prize–and a great addition to your collection as an individual coin!
