1913 5 Cent Buffalo Type I BU - First Year of Issue
The Very First Buffalo Nickel Released in 1913
Few U.S. coins have achieved the iconic status of the all-American Buffalo Nickel—especially with all the acclaim the $50 Gold Buffalo has garnered. This original first year 1913 Buffalo Nickel was designed by James E. Fraser, whose initial “F” appears beneath the date. Fraser said the profile was a composite of three different Native American chiefs. The model for the buffalo was “Black Diamond,” then on display at New York’s Central Park Zoo. Here’s your chance to secure this first-year American classic in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. Hurry, our supplies are limited!
