About the 1995 American Silver Eagle:
The 1995 Silver Eagle is distinctive in the Silver Eagle series for two reasons. First, it marked the 10th anniversary of the American Eagle Bullion Program, the Act of Congress that created Silver Eagles.

Secondly, in 1995 the U.S. Mint created two versions of the Silver Eagle proof coin. The first version was the standard 1995-P Proof Silver Eagle, which was minted in Philadelphia and struck with a "P" mint mark.

The second version, the 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle, was struck at the West Point Mint and created solely for inclusion in the 1995 Gold Eagle Proof Set, a special set commemorating the 10th anniversary of the American Eagle Bullion Program. Only about 30,000 sets—and thus, only 30,000 1995-W Proof Silver Eagles—were produced. The 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle is a highly coveted coin and considered by many collectors to be the "holy grail" of American Silver Eagles.

No matter which Silver Eagle coin you purchase, you can be assured of its content and purity—it's the only silver coin guaranteed by the U.S. Government. Because it's the official silver bullion of the United States. And it's non-reportable, ensuring a safe, private and convenient way to invest in precious metal.

The overall average price of silver during 1995 was $5.20 per ounce.
