An Ending, A Beginning And An End For America’s Silver Eagle
The wave of collector frenzy that met the United States Mint’s release of its highly anticipated 2021 Type 1 & Type 2 American Silver Eagles was something not seen since the release of the famous Treasury Hoard back in the 1960s! The final Silver Eagles featuring John Mercanti’s Heraldic Eagle design were collected as fast as the Mint could strike them. The same went for the first Silver Eagles bearing the new Emily Damstra of an Alighting Eagle. As there were TWO designs in the same year, the Mercanti coins were designated as Type 1 Silver Eagles while the Damstra coins were designated as Type 2 Silver Eagles.
Last Mercanti Reverse Proof Silver Eagles
Lost amid all the hoopla of this first design change to the Silver Eagle program in 35 years was a small release of Reverse Proof Silver Eagles. Not only was this a small, limited edition, but it represents the LAST time the Mercanti design will be struck as a Reverse Proof coin! In this offer you can secure both the Type 1 and Type 2 Silver Eagles from 2021. The Type 1 coin was struck at the West Point Mint while the Type 2 coin was struck at the San Francisco Mint.
Flawless Proof Condition Coins From Among The First Issued
What’s more, each two-piece set has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as being in flawless Proof-70 (PF70) condition, a distinction that means these perfectly-graded proofs have ZERO imperfections — showing all features and fields exactly as the engraver and mint intended. In addition, NGC has further certified that these Silver eagles are First Day of issue (FDI) coins, meaning that they were received by NGC or an NGC-approved depository by the release date or on the business day within 24 hours of the official release date. Collectors seek out these coins because they are produced with new dies and considered to have sharper strikes and deeper mirrors than those that are struck later. Also, the population of coins labeled First Day of issue is only a fraction of the total mintage!
Signed Sealed And Delivered
Plus, each coin has also been sonically sealed in a museum-quality acrylic holder with a black display core and encapsulated with a label signed by a giant in the coin world. The Type 1 Eagle’s label has been signed by John Mercanti and the Type 2 Eagles label has been signed by Michael Gaudioso. Mercanti was U.S. Mint’s 12th Chief Engraver and has produced more coin and medal designs than any person in U.S. Mint history. U.S. Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso sculpted the new Type 2 design.
SOLD OUT AT THE MINT: Low Mintage Will Have Collectors Scrambling For These Sets
The Mint released just 125,000 of these special two-piece sets. That pales in comparison to other Silver Eagle mintages. And, as the first and last Silver Eagles, you can bet that once collectors are alerted about these sets, demand will skyrocket. In fact, the entire mintage of these two-piece sets completely sold out at the U.S. Mint on the same day they were released! Don’t miss your chance to secure both the Type 1 AND Type 2 Silver Eagles from 2021 with a unique Reverse Proof finish! Order yours today!
COIN HIGHLIGHTS:
- WEINMAN’S CLASSIC WALKING LIBERTY . . . – Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic Walking Liberty design first made its debut on the 1916 half dollar, lasting three decades before bowing out in 1947. In 1986, this iconic image was reborn for the Silver Eagle with her exquisitely detailed beauty remaining on the coin ever since.
