Ancient Greek c. 325-320 B.C. Greek Alexander Gold Stater Susa NGC Ch MS "Fine Style"
Simply Stunning, Rare Ancient Gold Stater is Only One of Four!
Were you to visit the Biblioteque Nationale (the French National collection) Museum, you would see a version of this amazing ancient coin displayed there -- but it would not be considered nearly as fine as this coin you can now buy here at GovMint.com! Struck in Susa either during or soon after the life of Alexander, this Gold Stater is of stunning quality. In fact, only four like it are known to exist! This coin, graded Choice Mint State (Ch MS) by NGC with a Strike 5/5, a Surface 4/5 and a special "Fine Style" designation for its exceptional workmanship, is the finest known in the world!
Struck circa 325-320 B.C., we must turn our eyes to the obverse of this coin to see what makes it especially significant (beyond its stunning quality, of course). As with other Alexander Staters, the obverse features the profile of the goddess Athena wearing a large Corinthian helmet. But if you look closely, under the plume you will see a seated sphinx. This type of ornamentation is very unusual for Alexander coins!
In the past 17 years, only two other coins of this type have appeared on the open market, and neither were as fine as this coin. If you want a world-class collection, consider that this is the finest coin of its type known in the entire world! Secure it now before it disappears into someone else’s private collection.
