2023 Marks 40th Anniversary Of China’s Silver Panda Series!

Beloved for its precious metal content and intricate designs that change each year, the Chinese Silver Panda bullion series remains one of the world’s most celebrated programs. First released in 1983 and building in popularity every year since, the China Mint's Silver Panda series is now among the most popular on the planet. With 2023 marking the 40th anniversary of silver series (the first Gold Pandas were released in 1982), there’s no time like the present to secure this global phenomenon.

Mint-Identified Pandas From The China Mint!

Just as the United States has mints in Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, and West Point that strike a portion of a coin’s overall mintage, China spreads its coins between several mints. The difference is that China does not add mint marks to its coins! It is only through a careful screening process that tracks which coins come from which mint that experts can determine the mint of origin—a process we have perfected through our close relationship with mint officials! Each coin available in this offer was struck in 30 grams of highly pure 99.9% fine silver and bears a label that identifies China’s Shenzhen Mint as its mint of origin. These coins are also 10 Yuan legal tender in the People’s Republic of China and feature the newest one-year-only design in the Panda series:

One-Year-Only Design Is Fifth Year Of “Series Within A Series”

The new 2023 design was created by Tong Fang, a China Mint designer who has created many one-year-only designs for China’s Panda Series. Ms. Fang’s design for the 2023 Panda coin features a pair of playful young Panda bears—twins perhaps?—playing in a tree. They’re shown facing each other, one in the tree and one below, extending their paws as if one is offering the other a “hand” up in the tree. This is the fifth year of the China Mint’s 10-year “series within a series” where collectors get to watch a Panda grow from a cub to adulthood. The obverse displays the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests located in Beijing’s Temple of Heaven. It is encircled by the phrase “People’s Republic of China” in Chinese along with the 2023 year date.

Flawless Mint State Pandas From Among The First Issued

Each 2023 China 30-Gram Silver Panda available here has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being in flawless Mint State-70 (MS70) condition, a distinction that means these perfectly-graded coins have ZERO imperfections—showing all features and fields exactly as the engraver and mint intended. In addition, NGC has pedigreed these coins with a First Day of Issue (FDI) certification, a designation that means they were received by NGC or an NGC-approved depository by the release date or on the business day within 24 hours of the official release date. In fact, NGC has further certified that these coins were among the First 20,000 Struck—which seems like a lot, but when you consider the mintage for this coin is 10 million, this represents just 0.2% of the entire mintage!

To top it off, each coin available here has been sonically sealed in an acrylic capsule and encapsulated with a special .999 silver label that was personally signed by designer Tong Fang! Ms. Fang is renowned within the numismatic community for several of her Chinese commemorative designs as well as her previous Panda coin designs in 2019 and 2021.

High Demand For Panda Coins Inside China Makes These Coins Difficult To Acquire

Since 2016, China’s legendary Silver Pandas have been issued in metric weights, setting themselves apart from other silver coins minted around the world. In addition, simply acquiring one of these coins can be extremely difficult due to the fact that demand for them within China’s borders is extremely intense, making them harder to find outside of the country. No matter what your reasons are for collecting these fabulous coins, now is the time to bring a 2023 China Silver Panda home to your collection!

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • A HEARTWARMING ONE-YEAR-ONLY DESIGN! – This year’s Silver Panda design features a pair of Panda cubs playing in a tree. This delightful one-year-only image is the fifth year in a 10-year “series within a series” that chronicles a Panda’s growth from a cub to adulthood!
  • STRUCK IN HIGHLY PURE SILVER! – This Panda coin was struck by the China Mint in 30 grams of highly pure 99.9% fine silver and measures 40 mm in diameter.
  • CHINA LEGAL TENDER – Each 2023 Thirty-Gram Silver Panda is 10 Yuan China legal tender, as seen right underneath the Panda’s profile on the coin’s reverse. Flip the coin over and you’ll see the date, the inscription of “People’s Republic of China” in Chinese and an image of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, located in Beijing’s Temple of Heaven.
  • PERFECT UNCIRCULATED CONDITION – Your 2023 Silver Panda has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) in perfect Uncirculated Mint State-70 (MS70) condition.
  • KEY FIRST DAY OF ISSUE CERTIFICATION – NGC has certified that this Silver Panda is a First Day of Issue (FDI) coin, independent authentication that it was released by the mint during the premier day of the series’ issue. NGC further certified that this coin was among the first 20,000 struck at the Shenzhen Mint.
  • SIGNED BY THE COIN’S DESIGNER – Each coin will be sonically sealed in an acrylic holder and encapsulated with a .999 silver label personally signed by the designer of this year’s coin, China Mint designer Ms. Tong Fang.
