Celebrate The New Year With An Exquisite Piece Of Artistry From The China Mint
There’s a reason why one doesn’t often come across rhombus coins. The dies for round coins are much more easily aligned making them easier to mass produce. Plus, their circular shape allows for efficient stacking and prevents sharp edges, making it easier to store and transport them. With little motivation to strike diamond-shaped coins, it’s no wonder that these uniquely shaped pieces are extremely uncommon. Leave it to the world-renowned China Mint to buck the trend and release a series of gold and silver rhombus coins that welcome 2025 with blessings of good luck.
The China Mint Shows Its Whimsical Side
On this delightful Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) coin struck in 8 grams of highly pure 99.9% fine silver you can not only appreciate the technical expertise of the China Mint but enjoy its whimsical side as well. On one side you can see a little girl affixing a colorized “Fú” symbol to a window in honor of the new Lunar Year. Children in China hang Fú symbols during New Year celebrations to invite good fortune into their homes, with the upside-down placement symbolizing that luck is literally “pouring in” for the year ahead. The coin’s obverse features a combination of traditional Chinese auspicious patterns. The pattern presents a fresh look of adding blessings to blessings. The design shows traditional Chinese decorative elements such as peony, twined branches, and Huizi patterns, to represent the beautiful connotations such as longevity and good luck.
Beautifully Crafted Figurines Double As Statuettes And Display Stands
What makes this release even more fun is that each coin arrives in a special “Blind Box” that contains a beautifully crafted figurine that doubles as an adorable statuette and a display stand to hold the coin. Inspired by the pattern on the silver coin, the figurine is meant to look like a sweet little girl from Northeast China wearing a flowery cotton-padded jacket hanging up red banners (Fai Chun), symbolizing good fortune. What’s more, there are five versions of the figurine each adorned with five different auspicious and beautiful symbols: persimmons, gourds, celestial peaches, magpies, and ingots. These accessories represent traditional Chinese cultural values: happiness, prosperity, longevity, joy, and wealth. This creates five unique figurines that combine adorable elements with colors inspired by traditional palace aesthetics. There’s also a sixth, very exclusive version, with Niu Niu in a special prosperity outfit, her hand raised in the air in celebration.
The figurines come in six different colors, each symbolizing a unique blessing: Red “Ruyi” (Luck), Green “Lu” (Good Career), Peach “Shou” (Longevity), Violet “Xi” (Happiness), Yellow “Cai” (Fortune), and Mystery Five Blessings in Full. The figurines and designs are randomly placed in each box so what’s in each one is a “Mystery.” Please note, once opened, the figures cannot be returned or exchanged.
