2025 Great Britain £5 2-oz Silver Battles of Lexington and Concord Proof NGC PF70 First Day of Issue w/Gaudioso-Signed Label
Commemorating The Shot Heard Round The World
While the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, one could argue that the United States of America became a unified nation more than a year earlier on April 19, 1775 at the Battles of Lexington and Concord when the first shot of the American Revolution was fired—the shot heard round the world. To commemorate the 250th anniversary of that monumental moment in world history, Great Britain’s Royal Mint has struck a series of silver and gold coins—the FIRST TIME British coinage has marked the history of the American Revolutionary War!
Designed By U.S. Mint Coin Designer And Engraver Michael Gaudioso
Here you can secure the legal-tender £5 coin struck in two ounces of highly pure 99.9% silver. It’s a beautifully crafted coin that, while struck the prestigious Royal Mint, was designed by retired U.S. Mint coin designer and engraver Michael Gaudioso. Famous as the engraver of the Type 2 American Silver Eagle’s reverse, Gaudioso lent his talents to this historic release with a design that shows an American militiaman and a British soldier taking aim with their muskets. In the background is Boston’s Old North Church, the Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts, and Paul Revere making his midnight ride. Around the top of the coin the words “THE SHOT HEARD ROUND THE WORLD,” have been engraved, a phrase synonymous with the American Revolutionary War. Along the bottom are 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies with “250 YEARS” placed between the stars.
