Italian WWII Military Payment Currency
This is something we don’t get to see often—Italian Allied Military Currency (AMC)! We will choose one of four notes; 1 Lira, 2 Lire, 5 Lire and 10 Lire notes, each printed in a different color.
Historic Artifacts of World War II
These notes were issued to troops after the landing in Sicily the night of July 9, 1943 as a means of controlling local currency in the newly liberated area. The Italian government capitulated to the Allies on September 3, 1943. Five days later, on September 8, Hitler launched Operation Axis, the occupation of Italy, and German troops entered Rome. The next day the Allies launched Operation Avalanche and the war on the Italian peninsula continued until the end of World War II.
Very Fine To About Uncirculated Condition
Each of these notes was printed in the United States and displays the “Four Freedoms” of Speech, Religion, Freedom from Want, and the Freedom from Fear. More than 75 years old, these vintage WWII-era notes will make an outstanding addition to anyone’s wartime collection of coins and currency. Plus, they also come in fantastic Very Fine to About Uncirculated (VF–AU) condition! Click this historic set to your cart today!
