When Do 2024 Coins Come Out?


The release of the 2024 coins from the U.S. Mint is scheduled to occur throughout the year, with various coins making their debut at different times. While specific release dates for each coin can vary, you can look at the tentative schedule below to start planning accordingly. These dates are subject to change, so staying updated with the latest announcements from the U.S. Mint is advisable.


Harriet Tubman Commemorative Coins

January 4th

The 2024 Harriet Tubman Commemorative Coin Program, recognizing the remarkable contributions of Harriet Tubman, began pre-orders on January 4, 2024, and was set to start shipping by February 12, 2024. 

This series includes coins in the following denominations, struck with both a proof and mint state finish:

  • Half Dollar
  • Silver Dollar
  • Five-Dollar Gold Coin

Each denomination features a unique obverse design of the iconic freedom fighter and liberator. 

These commemorative coins encapsulate Tubman's legacy as a freedom fighter, Union Army nurse, and suffragist. The program is not only a tribute to her life but also offers collectors a chance to own a meaningful piece of American history.

2024-W American Silver Eagle Proof

January 16th

The American Silver Eagle Proof was first introduced in 1986, debuting alongside its bullion counterpart, and has been a highly anticipated annual release ever since. The obverse of the 2024-W Proof features the classic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman, his traditional artist mark, "AW," and a "W" mint mark representing the West Point branch, where they were minted.

Since 2021, with the debut of the Type 2 design, the reverse design has featured an eagle landing. Both obverse and reverse are struck with a magnificent proof finish showcasing the iconic designs with frosty details and mirrored backgrounds. 


Liberty and Britannia Gold Coins and Silver Medals

February 8th

For years, coins in the United States have featured Lady Liberty, and coins in the United Kingdom have featured Britannia. The Liberty and Britannia Gold Coins and Silver medals combine both Liberty and Britannia to celebrate the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. This series is notably just the second time the United States Mint and The Royal Mint have collaborated on a series of coins together and marks the first time that the Chief Engravers from each Mint have collaborated on a single coin design together!

The United States Mint version of this design will be issued on a $100 gold coin and a non-denominated silver medal. The Royal Mint will also release gold and silver coins featuring their version of the design.

2024-W First Amendment to the United States Right to Assemble Platinum Proof

February 15th

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution Platinum Proof Coin series will see a coin issued each year from 2021-2025 with designs themed after each of the five First Amendments. February sees the fourth release of the series, themed on the First Amendment's "Right to Assemble." The design of this coin, as well as the others in the series, incorporates the leaves of an oak tree to symbolize the growth of the United States from its beginnings with the First Amendment. 


2024 American Women Quarters Proof Set

February 27th

From 2022 to 2025, the mint will issue coins each year honoring important women in the history of the United States. 2024 marks the third year of the issue of the American Women Quarters series and will see five new quarter designs issued. This 2024 American Women Quarters Proof Set will contain a clad proof example of each. 

These women include: 

  • Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray, a civil rights activist and legal scholar 
  • The Honorable Patsy Takemoto Mink, the first woman of color in Congress
  • Celia Cruz, a Cuban-American music icon
  • Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, a pioneering surgeon, and Medal of Honor recipient
  • Zitkala-Sa, a Native American writer and activist

Greatest Generation Commemorative Coins

February 29th

The Greatest Generation Commemorative Coins series will be available for sale on February 29. This series, a tribute to the generation that endured the Great Depression and World War II, includes a range of commemorative coins, including gold proof, gold uncirculated, silver proof, and silver uncirculated coins. These coins commemorate the resilience and achievements of the Greatest Generation and are expected to be highly sought after for their historical significance.


2024-S Proof Set

March 14th

Proof sets feature a proof example of all the circulating coins from each year and have been a tradition since 1936. Collectors can expect the 2024 Proof Set to include familiar favorites such as the Roosevelt Dime, Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Kennedy Half Dollar, a one-year-only Native American Dollar, and one example of each American Women Quarters being released in 2024.  This year the five American Women Quarters being feutured are celebrated poet, lawyer and activist Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray, Congresswoman and Women's Rights Activist Honorable Patsy Takemoto Mink,  Civil War era surgeon and women’s rights and dress reform advocate Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, Cuban-American singer and Latin cultural icon Celia Cruz , writer, composer, educator and political activist for Native American rights Zitkala-Ša.  In addition, each piece in the set will bear the San Francisco Mint’s “S” mint mark and have a proof finish.


2024 American Women Quarters Silver Proof Set

April 2nd

The 2024 American Women Quarters Silver Proof Set will include quarters with designs honoring the likes of Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray, the Honorable Patsy Takemoto Mink, Celia Cruz, Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, and Zitkala-Sa, just like the 2024 American Women Quarters Proof set. However, the coins will all be struck with 99.9% silver rather than with a clad composition. 


2024 American Gold Eagle Proof

May 2nd

The 2024 American Gold Eagle Proof is minted at West Point and, therefore, is struck with the "W" mint mark. A beloved annual release, American Gold Eagle Proofs are released in several sizes ranging from one-tenth of an ounce to one ounce of 91.67% fine gold, allowing collectors to enjoy the iconic American Gold Eagle designs rendered with a gorgeous mirror-proof finish. 

The obverse design has a figure of liberty with a torch and an olive branch designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Since 2021, the reverse design has featured an intricate profile of an eagle's head and inscriptions, including "United States of America" and "In God We Trust."


2024 Burnished American Silver Eagles

June 6th

Burnished American Silver Eagles are an annual favorite that sees the iconic Silver Eagle designs struck with a gorgeous burnished finish, which is characterized by a soft, matte-like appearance. Burnished Silver Eagles are struck at the West Point Mint like their gold counterparts and feature its “W” mint mark.


2024 Burnished American Gold Eagles

June 6th

The 2024 Burnished American Gold Eagle coins will feature the same design as their bullion and proof counterparts, with the figure of Liberty by Augustus Saint-Gaudens on their obverse, and the profile of an eagle’s head on the reverse, but struck with a burnished finish. The burnished finish, sometimes called the collector's uncirculated finish, is characterized by a soft, almost matte-like appearance. Burnished Gold Eagles are struck at the West Point Mint and bear the “W” mint mark.

2024-W American Gold Buffalo Proof

June 13th

American Gold Buffalo Proofs have been a beloved annual release since 2006 and are known for their 99.99% fine gold composition. These coins are popular among collectors for their historic designs, which are brought to life with modern minting expertise and rendered with a spectacular proof finish. The obverse has a Native American by James Earle Fraser, and the reverse showcases the American Buffalo. 


2024-S Silver Proof Set

June 27th

Each coin in the silver proof set is struck at the San Francisco branch of the United States Mint with the “S” mint mark. An annual release, the Silver Proof Set is notable for containing 99.9% fine silver versions of the quarters, half dollar, and dime included in the set. This 2024 dated set will consist of the following coins: 

  • All five of the latest American Women Quarters Program coins in 99.9% fine silver 
  • 2024 Native American $1 Coin
  • Kennedy half dollar in 99.9% fine silver 
  • Roosevelt dime in 99.9% fine silver 
  • Jefferson nickel
  • Lincoln penny

2024-S American Silver Eagle Proof

August 7th

The 2024-S American Silver Eagle Proof will allow collectors to own a Proof Silver Eagle struck at the historic San Francisco Mint and bearing its iconic “S” mint mark. Since 2018, the United States Mint has released a West Point Mint struck Proof Silver Eagle and a San Francisco Mint struck Proof Silver Eagle each year.


2024-P Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar Uncirculated

July 11th

Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars are classic American coin series that were revived by the U.S. Mint in 2021 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the final Morgan issue and the first Peace Dollar issue. These modern Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars bear the same iconic designs as their historical counterparts, are crafted with modern minting expertise, and are struck from 99.9% fine silver! 

  • Morgan Silver Dollar: The Morgan Silver Dollar was designed by Mint Chief Engraver George T. Morgan and minted starting in 1878. The obverse has Liberty with “E Pluribus Unum,” and the reverse has an eagle with “United States of America.”
  • Peace Silver Dollar: The Peace Silver Dollar also features Liberty and an eagle. The eagle has an olive branch. The coin represents the hope for peace at the end of World War I and was first minted in 1921.

No Morgans or Peace Silver Dollars were issued in 2022 due to a shortage of silver blanks, but the series was issued again in 2023, making 2024 just the third year of issue for this hit series!


2024 Uncirculated Coin Set

August 29th

While exact details about the 2024 Uncirculated Coin Set have yet to be released, traditionally, the set will include uncirculated examples of circulating coinage, half of which are struck at the Denver Mint and half at the Philadelphia Mint. Collectors can expect to see familiar favorites such as a Roosevelt Dime, Jefferson Nickel, and Lincoln Cent, in addition to all five 2024 American Women Quarter designs. 


2024-W American Eagle Palladium Proof

September 5th

As is tradition,  the 2024-W American Eagle Palladium Proof will bear the famous Winged Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman on the obverse and an eagle on the reverse side. Since 2018, the United States Mint has released an American Palladium Eagle for collectors and alternates which finish is used each year. Last year, the 2023-W American Eagle Palladium coin was struck with a collector's uncirculated finish, in 2024, it will be a spectacular proof finish. 


2024-S Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar Proofs

September 12th

2024 is just the second year modern Morgan and Peace Dollars will be struck with a proof finish following the first proof releases in 2023. Struck at this historic San Francisco Mint, these 2024 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar Proofs allow collectors to own the landmark American coin designs, struck in 99.9% fine silver with a masterfully rendered proof finish.


230th Anniversary Flowing Hair Coins

October 15th

The 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair Coins celebrates a significant milestone in U.S. numismatic history. This series, comprising a gold coin and a silver medal, pays homage to the Flowing Hair design, one of the earliest designs in American coinage. The series offers a unique opportunity to own a modern rendition of this classic piece of American heritage.

2024-S Morgan & Peace Silver Dollar Two-Coin Reverse Proof Set

November 21st

The 2024 Morgan and Peace Dollar Two-Coin Reverse Proof Set will mark just the second time modern Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars have ever been struck with a reverse proof finish following the release of a Morgan and Peace Reverse Proof Set in 2023. 

The reverse proof finish is considered the opposite of a proof finish, characterized by frosted backgrounds and mirrored design details. The 2024-S Morgan and Peace Dollar Reverse Proofs will only be released together in a two-coin set planned for release in the Fall of 2024.
